Another Recipe from a Home-Chef

 Its been a while for me not to upload some recipes. 

My mom keep remind me, that its better to make my self a note. To ensure that we have a standard taste from time to time. 

So lets start with the first menu : 

A Peranakan home-cooking menu, which most Indonesian like. There are many recipes,  and mostly different from one house into another. Some  use blacan, candle nut, even ginger. But ours, we are having a simple yet tasty recipe. The secrets lies to the quality of sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) and use of proper heating.

Mie Goreng a'la Dapur Kirana 

Ingredients : 

200 gr mie telur - boiled al dente - add 2 tbs oil and 2 tbs of kecap manis 

100 gr chicken breast/thigh fillet - cubes 

4 cloves of garlic - chopped 

100 gr mixed bakso (sliced as preference) 

1 tbs fish sauce 

4 tbs sweet soy sauce 

100 gr cabbage 

50 gr caisim/kailan/pokchoy 

2 eggs - loosely beaten, add a pinch of salt

3 strings of spring onion - sliced as preference 

50 gr of onion - sliced as preference 

salt, sugar and pepper - as preference 

5 tbs of cooking oil. 


First step - make sure that you prepare everything before turning on the stove. Use proper heating too.. 

1. Boil the water, once its boiling, add the noodle, let is boil for 100 seconds, take out. Pour water to decrease the temperature. Drain, add 2 tbs soy sauce and oil. 

2. Heat the pan - add 5 tbs of cooking oil. Add eggs, stir fry occasionally. add garlic, chicken and meatballs - stir it. You may add 1 tbs of butter/margarine if you prefer. 

3. Add vegetables mix (except spring onion and onion) - give halt tsp of salt and 1 tsp of chicken stock powder. 

4. Pour the noodle, add fish sauce and 4 tbs of soy sauce. Stir quickly. Make sure that you are using high heat, to get perfect caramel aroma from the sauce. Add salt, sugar, onion and pepper . Keep stirring. Add spring onion. turn off the stove.
